Hello, I am Elza Berk.

With online therapy, you are able to meet me almost anywhere in the world, so long as you have a stable Internet connection.

Where it is necessary I work in conjunction with health care professionals such as doctors, specialists, psychiatrists and treatment centres.

People come to me wanting to change.

Contrary to popular belief, we cannot change alone. Carl Rogers said, “significant positive personality change does not occur except in a relationship”. In this case, it is the relationship between counsellor and client that generates the conditions for growth that makes change possible.

My Experience

I have a diploma in counselling and have worked in some of the most prestigious treatment centres in South Africa, giving me 20 years of industry experience.

My Therapy Style

I am person-centred and believe that every one of my clients is their own individual. I work with them to help them connect to their feelings without judgment and with compassion, empathy and understanding.

My International Clients

I have been involved in running dedicated online outpatient therapy for over 4 years and have clients in North Africa, Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

I myself am in recovery for substance use disorder as well as an eating disorder that placed me in the experiential mode of understanding the many predicaments felt by my clients. The only way for me to move forwards was to start dealing with the traumas of my past.

With over 20 years of sobriety which I am beyond grateful for the life, I now lead. I believe that my journey in life has been strengthened only through allowing myself to face my past as well as what activates me in the present.

I know life can be hard, overwhelming, depressing and at times all of those combined. Anxiety and depression can cripple us but I am here to say you don’t have to do it alone.

I became a therapist because I am able to be empathic and believe that I would not have been able to engage in the journey we call life without continuously looking at myself and engaging in a therapeutics process of my own.

I feel it’s a privilege to be given the opportunity and trust to be part of someone’s journey.
